About Us

Target Communications Corporation (TCC) began in 1980. Today, it publishes outdoor-related books and produces five of the largest deer-and-turkey hunting public expos in the country -- covering more than 40% of the U.S. market -- in the heartland states of Wisconsin, Minnesota, Illinois, Michigan and Ohio. The Wisconsin Deer & Turkey Expo, at 25 years of age, is the oldest of these expos.

TCC president Glenn Helgeland was associate editor of National Wildlife magazine; editor/associate publisher of Bowhunting World (formerly Archery World) magazine, and the founding editor of Archery Business (formerly Archery Retailer) magazine.

He has written and/or published 21 books, including "Archery For Beginners," with 1972 Olympic archery champion John Williams; the second edition of the "Pope & Young Club Record Book;" "Archery World's Complete Guide to Bowhunting," and "Bowhunting", for the North American Hunting Club's H.I.S. series. The other titles have been published under TCC's "On Target" label.

Glenn and his wife, Judy, have published two outdoor cookbooks. See the Books Section of this web-site for details on those and other titles.

He has written bowhunting columns for the NRA's American Hunter, Fins & Feathers, NAHC's North American Hunter, and Bowhunting World magazine, and the "Selling For Profit" merchandising/marketing column for Archery Business magazine.

Glenn was a member of the original Outdoor Life bowhunting advisory staff. He also was the first executive secretary of the Archery Range & Retailers Organization.

Target Communications is a member of the National Association of Consumer Shows (NACS) and the Professional Show Managers Association (PSMA), Helgeland is a member of the Outdoor Writers Association of America and the Professional Outdoor Communicators Association.
