There are four categories in the Wisconsin division of the whitetail deer trophy contest. They are: Firearms, Archery, Muzzleloader, Special Permit (crossbow) Entries must have been taken during a hunting season, with the hunter known. Firearms and archery categories have Current Year (2011 season) and Historical (2010 season and earlier) brackets; Muzzleloader and Special Permit/Crossbow entries have only one bracket (for all years) because there are fewer entries in each. There are two antler brackets – typical and non-typical -- in each category.
The Wisconsin black bear division has firearms and archery categories, all years together in each categories.
Out-of-State whitetail deer division has firearms and archery categories, typical-antlers and non-typical-antlers in each category, all years together in each category.
Contest entry fee is $20; in return, you get a weekend pass.
See the Wisconsin Contests page for complete 2012 contest rules and 'measure only' non-contest antler entry rules, and for identification of 2011 Best of Show winners.
